He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Choate and Ollie Leona Choate (Dixon); his wives, Josephine Choate and Judith Rea; his siblings, Emma Phillips, Sylvia Stubblefield, Haskell Choate, Mildred Huseman, Leon Choate, Viola Russell, Billy Choate, Howard Choate, Wayne Choate and John Choate; and his stepson Rob Cook.
He is survived by: his children, Travis Choate (Sandra) of Crosby, TX, Loretta Choate of Eufaula, OK, Marty Choate of Talihina, OK and Stephen Choate of Eufaula, OK.; his stepdaughters, Barbara Berryhill of Tuttle, OK and Joyce Cook; and his brother Freeman Choate of El Reno, OK.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 29th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM and on Friday, October 30th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM at the Mallory-Martin Funeral Home (204 NE F St, Stigler, OK 74462). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 31st 2026 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Ridge Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Herman's honor to the DAV.
