She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Baxter and Vesta Marie Baxter (Willis); her husband Earl; and her son James Everett Metcalf. She is survived by: her daughter LaGreta Metcalf; her grandchildren, David Metcalf (Beverly), Abby Gaisford, Joshua Dow (Danna), Justin Dow (Kim), Chad Metcalf (Kelley) and Jennifer Metcalf; and her great grandchildren, Xyler, Liliana Toohey, Aydan, Hadlea Dow, Jaden, Ian and Phoebe Dow.

After LaVerne began to exhibit signs of Alzheimer's, she went into the Okeene Nursing Home in 2017.
