He was predeceased by: his parents, William Douglas and Dora C. Yates (Hennessee); his wife Shirley Yates; his son Doug Yates; and his sister Cecil Yates.
He is survived by: his daughter Debbie; his children-in-law, Steve Newton and Allison Yates; his sister-in-law Kay Bryce; his grandchildren, Lisa Gentry (Steve Newton Jr.), Crystal (Scott), Elizebeth Newton (Alyssa Marie) and Jose Rodriguez (Skylr Yates); and his close friends, June, Larry Kelly and Bill Anders. He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild, numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 16th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM and on Thursday, July 17th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Lawton Ritter Gray Funeral Home (632 SW C Ave, Lawton, OK 73501). A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Grace Reformed Baptist Church (420 I St, Elgin, OK 73538).
