The memory of Jo Ann Hurd of Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, who passed away on October 9, 2025 at the age of 74, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Arney and Georgia Arney (Smith); her siblings, Mary Lou Brannon, Johnny Arney, Jimmy Arney, Norma Fisher, Charles Arney and Michael Arney; her aunt DeAnna Tullis; and her uncle Jimmy Tullis.
She is survived by: her husband Bill Hurd; her children, Shane Hurd of Fairbanks, AK, Breonna, Janie and Lanie Hurd of Fort Gibson, OK; her grandsons, Alex and Christopher Hurd of Fairbanks, AK; and her siblings, Benny (Ruth Arney), Robert Arney of Webbers Falles, OK, Rhonda (Don Siler), Donna Arney of Muskogee, OK and Steve (Claudene Arney). She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, ex-students and many friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Cornerstone Funeral Home (1830 N York St, Muskogee, OK 74403). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 17th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the First Baptist Church of Okay (3700 E 75th St N, Okay, OK 74446).
She also served as a foster parent with the Bair Foundation, providing love and guidance to children in need.
