He is survived by: his sister Irene Cornell; his children, Kristen McMurtrey-Leatherwood (John Partin), Brian McMurtrey (Jolynda), Clayton McMurtrey and Chrissy Turney (Sean Bilby); his son-in-law Kelly Cook; and his grandchildren, Skyler, Harley, Cole, Peyton, Paige, Madalyn and Logan. He is also survived by ten great-grandchildren.
