He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Powell (Rivers) and Henry Powell; his wife Frances Powell; his siblings, Gene Powell, Billy Powell, Viola (Troy Drury), Velma (Leroy West) and Vona (Kenneth Davis); and his sister-in-law Marion Lynn.

He is survived by: his children, Keith Powell of Frederick, Teresa (Andy Perry), Meri Kayla (Kevin Baker) and Karla (Brian Schrick); his grandchildren, Audri Edwards (Jeff) of Yukon, Amber McClure (David) of Apache, Michelle Thrasher (Jeff) of Frisco, Stephanie Rumbaugh (Joe) of Prosper, Melissa Jenkins (Ben) of Prosper, Jennifer Stockett (Clayton) of Midlothian, Jonathan Baker of Oklahoma City, Josh, Jordyn Baker of Altus, Karleigh Conway (Tyler) of Waco, Rachel Schrick of Costa Mesa and Quinn Schrick (Erin) of Phoenix, Arizona; his sister Vida Lee of Wichita Falls, Texas; and his brother-in-law Charlie Lynn of Vernon, Texas.. He is also survived by children, grandchildren, and 13 precious great-grandchildren.
