He was predeceased by: his parents, Raymond Howerton and Doris Howerton (Schreiner). He is survived by: his wife Claudia Howerton; his children, Dawn Bowen (Dewayne) of Garber and Wesley Howerton (Sasha) of Enid; his grandchildren, Daytan Cottrell, Elle Howerton and Hutch Howerton; and his siblings, Larry Howerton (Carolyn), Kenny Howerton (Rhonda) and Marion Howerton (Kay). He is also survived by numerous other family members and friends.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Garber Public Schools Library with Brown-Cummings Serving as custodian of the funds.
