He was predeceased by: his parents, Olivia Hargis (Kunningham) and Jessie James Hargis; his former wife Patty Jane Hargis; his grandson Little Wayne; and his siblings, Nora, Ivaline, Laverne, Virginia, Harold, Glen and Alvin.

He is survived by: his wife Lois "Oleta" Hargis; his children, Laura Hargis (Roy Reeves), Dana Hargis (Mark "Buck" Gates), Darrell Hargis (Tonya), Lonnie Hargis of Lake City and Jason Chalashtari (Amber); his grandchildren, Tyson, Ashley, Justin, Richard, Christopher, Kevin, Alan, Andrea, Jessica, Derrick, Cole, Kaden and Gage; and his siblings, Julie Kemper of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Alvie Hargis of Longmont and Donald Hargis of Datil. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.
