As Richard Eugene departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved Richard Eugene. Though Richard Eugene may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Elizabeth Sallee Whitman and Harry Daniel Whitman; his son Timothy Eugene "Tim" Whitman; and his wife Pat of New Smyrna Beach. He is survived by: his grandson Dylan Whitman; his daughter-in-law Heather Despain Whitman of Edmond, Oklahoma; his sister Clevetta Sue Sloan of Houston, Texas; his niece Meg Sloan Young (David Young); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Peyton and Harris; his nephew Andrew Sloan (Tanya); and his great-nieces, Elizabeth and Rebecca.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 6th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Matthews Funeral Home (601 S Kelly Ave, Edmond, OK 73003).
