He was predeceased by: his parents, Olan Mitchell and Ione Mitchell (Tommy); his siblings, Bill Mitchell, Etta Jo Mitchell and Caroly Mitchell Cox; his nephew James Olan Thorne; his niece Michelle Isbell; and his great-nephew Matthew Alexander.

He is survived by: his sister Olene Mitchell Thorne; his nieces, Cathy Cox Alexander and Cindy Cox Brannan; his nephew Andy Thorne; and his sister-in-law Carol Mitchell.
