LaVonna Smith wrote a sympathy message

“Mr. Breckenridge was a man that carried himself with so much respect and dignity. He gave something to the Powell family I am sure he was never aware of. He showed this family what could be accomplished no matter the barriers. Without him there are loads of children that would never have known Black farmers existed and were successful. My sympathy for the family and his loss has created a whole in your family. But you will always have his memories in your heart. LaVonna and Bill Smith”
