He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Houchen and Ruth Houchen (Drake); his wife Carol Houchen; and his brother William Houchen. He is survived by: his family, Emily Whitbeck (Mike) of Hugo, OK, Howard Houchen (Jeannie) of Hugo, OK, Tami Myers (Ray) of Whitewright, TX, Kenny Davis (Lori) of Farmersville, TX and David Davis (Lanette) of Blue Ridge, TX; his siblings, Jean Forbus and Kenneth Houchen (Janet); his children, Emily, Howard and Gerene Taylor; and also, Blake Whitbeck (Hollie), Collin Houchen (Kristen), Jared Houchen, Jesse, Staci Myers, Baylee Hughes, Byron Powell, Mendy Anthony, Jake Davis, Dillon and Kalina Davis. He is also survived by Numerous great Grandchildren.

“David Lee Houchen was my Cousin. When we were very young, our Grandfather Drake would gather me, my brother and sister and my. Mother for annual trips to Hugh. Us boys would become labor on their family farm. After a hard days work in Oklahoma heat, Uncle Melvin would take us kids to the river for our nightly bath and swimming fun.. Sorry that we will miss the funeral, as we just got word of his passing. Gene Smith, Amarillo, TX….”
