He was predeceased by: his parents, John Lafayette and Lois Shannon (Byrd); his siblings, Dale, Roy, Louis, Nettie, Willie Jo and Tommye; his siblings-in-law, William Mote, George Mote, Charles Schwarz and Donna Mote; his niece Sarah Caldwell; and his nephew Ashley Caldwell.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Shannon; his sons, Bryan (Barbie Shannon) and T. J. (Pat Shannon); his grandchildren, Candace Dunagan (Andrew), Jacob Shannon (Ryan), Aaron Shannon and Brett Shannon; his great grandchildren, Emersyn Shannon, Creek Shannon, Ryker Dunagan and Noah Dunagan; his brother Paul; and his sisters-in-law, Linda Shannon, Barbara Shannon, Annie Schwarz, Susanne Mote and Janie Caldwell (Wayne). He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
