He was predeceased by : his parents, Floyd Hunter and Thelma Johnson Thompson; his siblings, Debra Thompson and Terry Thompson; and his daughter-in-law Heather Graham.

He is survived by : his wife Carrie Haywood Hunter; his sons, Timothy Graham and Jason R. Hunter (Sophia G. Hunter); his grandchildren, Jaden, Sania, Serenity and Jeremiah; his son Johnny Hunter, Jr.; his grandchildren, David Jay, Micah Daniel and Johnny Ray, Jr.; and his siblings, Roy Lee Johnson (Michelle), Freddie Thompson (Shauna), Gary Thompson, Kenneth Thompson (Leticia), Mary Hawley and Jenny McSwain. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM at the Ray & Martha's Funeral Home (1115 S Mission St, Anadarko, OK 73005). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 20th 2024 at 1:00 PM at the Greater First Baptist Church (502 E Washington Ave, Anadarko, OK 73005). A burial was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Fort Sill National Cemetery (2648 NE Jake Dunn Rd, Elgin, OK 73538).
