He was predeceased by: his parents, Vernon Henry Nelson and Dorothy Lucille Nelson-Alm (Erickson); his brothers, David Allen Nelson and Donald Alm; and his grandson Daniel.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Marie Summers (Danderson); his children, Ray Summers of Locust Grove, Leslie Renee Nelson of Pryor and Andrea Cakora (Nathan) of Pryor; his siblings, Katherine Nelson Olson (Ronald) of Morton, Henry Nelson of Chicago, Keith John Nelson of Wonder Lake, Daniel C. Nelson (JoAnn) of Wood Dale and Ronald Alm (Betty) of Elgin; his sister-in-law Diane Nelson of Marengo, Illinois; and his grandchildren, Heather, Alex, Hannah, Lyanie, Sevin, Dominick, Levi and Emma. He is also survived by six great-grandchildren and numerous, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
