He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard E. Smith Sr. and Dorothy Lee Smith (Best); his sister Teresa; his stepmother Deana Smith; his aunts and uncles, Don Smith, Lear Best, Katie, Ruthie, Ellen and Naomi; and his parents-in-law, Bo and Zelma Burton.
He is survived by: his wife Essie; his daughters, Malissa Payne (Ken) of Eureka Springs, Katie Henshaw (Pete) of Tahlequah and Eugenia Smith of Tahlequah; his siblings, Tammy Smith (Julia) of Napa Valley, Sioux Greninger of Miami and Rick Smith (Kim) of Claremore; and his grandchildren, Logan Davis (Roper) of Gentry, Julius Easter, Daleigh Fields, Tuff Fields, Joyce Anna and Richard Wade Daniels of Tahlequah. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the People's Funeral Home (1400 Main St, Lone Wolf, OK 73655). Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 13th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Peoples Funeral Home (1400 Main St, Lone Wolf, OK 73655).
