He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Hughes and Juanita "Wonnie" Hughes (Embry); his significant other Gloria Hughes; his daughter Linda Hughes; his granddaughter Natasha Whittington; his great grandchild Ryder Hughes; and his siblings, Estelene Stuckey, Dorothy Clifton, Ruby Owens, Geneta Clover, Winston Hughes, Robert Hughes, Jr., Cotton Hughes and Toots Hughes.

He is survived by: his children, Robert Mac Hughes (Gina) of Marietta, Brenda Jean Peery (Herschel) of Marietta and Amy Lynn Hughes of Marietta; and his sister Christine Hughes of Marietta. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
