He was predeceased by: his parents, Joy Joy and Irene T. Joy; his wife Paula Joy; his siblings, Clifton Joy, Johnny Joy, James Joy, David Joy and Elizabeth Waller; and his grandchildren, Will Roberts and Joy Roberts.

He is survived by: his former wife Theresa Corrales Joy; his children, Mike Joy (Aileena) and Kathy Roberts; his stepdaughters, Jessica Emerson (Jesse), Megan Solomon and Amanda Keller (Terry); his grandchildren, Cassandra Tengbeh Joy, Sam Roberts, Nick Roberts and Emerson Roberts; and his stepgrandchildren, Travis Harrop, Arrabella Solomon, Danielle Keller, Leanne Shumate, Hazel Little and Lynsey Emerson.
