He was predeceased by: his parents, J. D. Mitchell and Oleta Mitchell (Barnett); his son Joe Dyer "Jodie" Mitchell; his grandson Baby Mitchell; his brother David Mitchell; and his siblings-in-law, Jessie, Jerry Don Vanciel, Dwight Kerns, Carolann Vanciel and Shelly Vanciel.
He is survived by: his wife Niva Mitchell; his children, Jamie Mitchell and Kris Mitchell; his granddaughter Brooklyn Mitchell; his siblings-in-law, Evelyn Kerns, Bonnie Vanciel, Kathy Vanciel and Leroy Vanciel; his cousins, Betty Wingo and Louise Hoffman (DeWayne); his sibling's children, Jay Vanciel, Nancy Vanciel, Rebecca, Jimmy Deaton, Jeff, Crystal Vanciel, Charlene Robertson, Doreen, Keith Baxter, Angie Wilson, Kelley Vanciel, Jerry Don Vanciel, Jr., Savanna Vanciel, Lee Vanciel, Alex Vanciel, Amber, Chris Wilds and Thomas Porter; and also, DeWayne David and Jerrel.
Visitation was held on Sunday, July 20th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Brumley-Mills Funeral Home (1410 E Carl Albert Pkwy, McAlester, OK 74501). A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 21st 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Brumley-Mills Funeral Home Chapel (1410 E Carl Albert Pkwy, McAlester, OK 74501).
