He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Clay and Sarah Bates (Hylton); and his siblings, Orville Bates, Margaruite Robertson (Bates) and Martha Convirs (Bates).
He is survived by: his daughters, Linda Hopkins (Carroll) and Susan Nance (John); his grandchildren, Shauna Foust (Jeremy), Brent Hopkins (Jennifer), David Nance (Tammy), Jacob Nance and Rachel Flores (Chris); his great grandchildren, Blake Hopkins (Lindsey), Brady Hopkins, Makala Nance, Breanna Nance, Ariella Flores, Jocelyn, Morel Flores and Lauren Woods; and his siblings, Richard Bates, Leonard Bates and Dorlene Massey (Bates).
