He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph William and Lorene Schertz (Baunhofer); his wife Kathleen Marie Schertz; and his siblings, Wilma Schertz, Bill Schertz and Donald Schertz.
He is survived by: his mother-in-law Kathleen Marie Fitzgibbon; his child Joey Schertz (Shanda); his granddaughter Emily of Miami; his child Dusty Schertz (Amber); his grandchildren, Kathleen, Tucker of Fairland and Carrie Heyburn (James); his great grandchildren, Michael and Zachery of Miami; his granddaughter Mandy Bertalotto (Daniel); his great grandchildren, Mary Kate, Caroline and Jack of Fayetteville; his granddaughter Christy Schertz; his great grandchild Elijah of Claremore; and his brothers, Edwin Schertz (Terry) of Sunrise Beach and Jerry Schertz of Miami. He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family has asked that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made to St Jude's Medical Hospital.
