He was loved and cherished by many people including: his father Woodrow; his stepfather Nathaniel Colbert; his wife Josephine Hill of Muskogee; his children, Marsha (Bobby) of Muskogee, Gearld Jr. and Rodney (Kimber) of Muskogee; his siblings, Richard (Lynda) of Tulsa, Eugene Colbert (Ladonna) of Muskogee, Queen Ester Colbert of Muskogee, Jeanie Craig of Muskogee, Patricia Johnson of Muskogee and Gloria Colbert of Muskogee; his sister-in-law Jeanette Edwards; and his son-in-law Maurice Bridges. He was also cherished by Father, his parents, stepfather, daughter, along with a host of other relatives.
