He was predeceased by: his parents, Dennis Clayton and Pauline Clayton (Treadway); his wife Barbara Ann Clayton (Hulet); his daughter Marcia Ann Skelton (Clayton); his granddaughters, Sue Ann Clayton and Jeanie Marie Cleveland (Clayton); and his siblings, Barbara White (Clayton) and Carl R. Clayton.
He is survived by: his children, Cindy Shanks (Clayton) of Bakersfield, CA and David Clayton (Debbie) of Muskogee, OK; and his siblings-in-law, Sue Easterling of Muskogee, OK, Rita Hains of Sand Springs, OK, Bill Hulet of Broken Arrow, OK and Tuffy Fuller of Westville, OK. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; plus 1 on the way; many nieces nephews; and many friends.
Visitation was held on Monday, October 5th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home and Crematory (1020 W Okmulgee Ave, Muskogee, OK 74401). A celebration of life was held on Tuesday, October 6th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Clifford D Garrett Family Funeral Home Chapel (1020 W Okmulgee Ave, Muskogee, OK 74401).
