He was predeceased by: his parents, C. R. Burks and Edith Middaugh Burks; his wife Sue Burks; and his sister Jackie Neff. He is survived by: his significant other Mary Sue Varnell; his daughter Tanya Sue Ward (Robert H. Ward III); and his grandchildren, Gabriel Robert Ward and Gideon Robert Ward of Shawnee, OK..
Sue was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and Ted cared for her every day, for eight years, in their home.
