She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Monroe and Edna Emma Gannaway (Loveless); her brothers, Jackie Wayne Gannaway (Leona "Toots") and Charles Thomas Gannaway; and her granddaughter-in-law Veronica Bates.
She is survived by: her husband Robert Bates; and her children, Sherry Wilkerson (Craig) of Newcastle, Tommy Bates of Newcastle, Robert Bates of Newcastle, Greg Bates (Nancy) of Newcastle and Terry Bates of Newcastle. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
