He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold J. Black and Edna Langley (Richardson); his stepparents, Thelma Black and Herb Langley; and his grandparents, Lena, Fred Richardson, Nettie and Arthur Black.

He is survived by: his wife Shirley Black; his children, Leiana Victor, Holly Baldwin Zeid (Yasser Zeid), Nick Brandt (Jamie Brandt) and Annabelle Brandt; his brother Jack Black (Ann Black); his grandchildren, Trey Austin Haug, Frances Baldwin, Michael Brandt and Valerie McRay; and his nieces, Jana Webb and Kari Lively.
