Family, friends, and acquaintances remember Douglas for his warmth, thoughtfulness, and the moments shared together. He was predeceased by: his parents, Douglas Ray Messel and Marvelle Katherine Messel (Worel); his wife Sue Messel; and his grandson Joshua Messel. He is survived by: his daughters, Lisa D'Amico (Joe) of Norman, Teresa Messel of Norman and Deanna Fillmore of Goldsby; and his grandchildren, Ryan Messel, Tyler Thomas (Ashleigh), Ila Fillmore, Andrew Wyrick, Rylee Reece (Thomas) and Luke D'Amico (Lani). He is also survived by 12 great grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Pryor Cemetery Chapel (1493 OK-31A, Ashland, OK 74570).
