He was predeceased by: his parents, Elmer Askeland and Elverna Askeland; and his sister Kathey Allen. He is survived by: his son Brad Askeland (Jessie); his grandchildren, Tinley, Blakely and Landry of Altoona; his daughter Dawn Schmidt-Askeland; his grandchildren, Parker of Syracuse, Hudson of Syracuse and Griffin Schmidt of Syracuse; and his brother-in-law Daniel Allen of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Colfax Township Cemetery.
