He was predeceased by: his parents, Ira Hugh Patterson Sr. and Laura Margaret Osborne Patterson (Osborne); and his former wife Delorus Jean Patterson. He is survived by: his wife Robbie Charlene Patterson; his daughters, Katrina Wyckoff (Mark) and Stephanie Hodges (Timothy); his grandchildren, Jonathan, Robby, Joshua Wyckoff, Nathan, Ashlynn and Lauren Hodges; and his sister Ann Patterson-Salazar. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or The Salvation Army in Ira's honor.
