Primrose Funeral Service & Sunset Memorial Park CemeteryMary Ida Chalakee, 87, went to be with the Lord in Norman, Oklahoma on November 6, 2023. Mary Ida was born August 3, 1936 in Bennington, Oklahoma to Charlie H. Lloyd and Lee Etta "Tut" (Gardner) Lloyd.
Mary Ida was preceded in death by her husband John Chalakee Jr., parents Charlie H. Lloyd and Lee Etta "Tut" (Gardner) Lloyd, brother's Roscoe Lloyd and Johnny Lloyd, and daughter-in-law Barbara Chalakee.
Those left to cherish Mary Ida's memory is her son James Chalakee of Corpus Christi, Texas; daughter Evelyn (Jesse) Noah of Estes Park, Colorado; son Stanley (Jeanetta) Chalakee of Norman, Oklahoma; brother Ervin Lloyd of Chicago, Illinois; brother Jimmy Lloyd of Atoka, Oklahoma; brother Anthony Lloyd of Bokchito, Oklahoma; granddaughter Kelsey Noah of Denver, Colorado; granddaughter Hayley Noah of Austin, Texas; granddaughter Amelia Chalakee of Norman, Oklahoma; and grandson John Chalakee of Norman, Oklahoma.
After graduating High School in Itasca, Texas, Mary Ida completed one year of college at Oklahoma Presbyterian College. In 1955, Mary Ida moved to McAlister, Oklahoma. In 1966, Mary Ida moved to Norman, Oklahoma.
Mary Ida spent 25 years as a physical therapy aide treating children with cerebral palsy at JD McCarty Center. After retiring, she became a part time home healthcare aide.
Mary Ida married the love of her life, John Chalakee Jr., on June 15, 1955. They spent 28 wonderful years together raising their children before John's passing on May 18, 1983. Mary Ida was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved to talk and spend as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren.
Mary Ida had a strong Christian faith and grew up in the Presbyterian Church. Mary Ida will be remembered for always being very sweet, quiet, and helped anyone who asked.
A funeral service for Mary Ida will be held Monday, November 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Primrose Funeral Service, 1109 North Porter Ave, Norman, OK 73071. Mary Ida will be laid to rest in Norman IOOF.
