She was predeceased by: her parents, Earl Wilson Henry and Pearl Juanita Brunk Henry; her siblings, Billy Henry, Ron Henry, Sharon Henry and Lucy Peters; and her son Lansford Bethel.

She is survived by: her husband Lander Louis Bethel; her children, Lander Bethel Jr. (Genna) of Sherman, Lesa Bethel Mulligan (Richard) of Norman, Steve Bethel (Jennifer) of Little Rock and Scott Bethel (Karen) of Norman; her siblings, Earl "Junior" Henry (Myrna) of Gans, Brenda Wilson of Norman, Paula McQueen (Cody Carter) of Broken Arrow and Bobby "Donnie" Henry of Grady, Arkansas.; and her grandchildren, Lander Bethel III, Hollin Bethel, Will Bethel, Caitlyn Mulligan Jurica, Cara Mulligan Holt, Carson Mulligan, Cassidy Mulligan, Garrett Bethel, Harris Bethel, Boyd Bethel, Bryn Bethel, Reeves Bethel, Eloise "Eli" Bethel and Violet Bethel. She is also survived by five great grandchildren, with another great grandchild on the way; many nieces and nephews; and numerous other extended family members, friends.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Havenbrook Funeral Home (3401 Havenbrook St, Norman, OK 73072). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 at 1:00 PM at the First Presbyterian Church (555 S University Blvd, Norman, OK 73069).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the Shelba J. Bethel, MD Scholarship at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, 800 Stanton L. Young Blvd., Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73104, or that a tree be planted in Shelba's honor using the link on her obituary page.
