He was predeceased by: his parents, Alice Katherine Wagner Vaughn and Thomas John Vaughn, Sr.; and his uncle Bill D. Wagner. He is survived by: his wife Susan Vaughn; his brother Don Vaughn (Sarah Vaughn); his children, Laura Vaughn (Justin Lincks) and Ryan Vaughn (Laura Lussier-Vaughn); his stepchildren, Candice Clark (Bradley Clark) and John McCurdy (Annemarie Raizman); his grandchildren, Jacquelyn Vaughn, Elizabeth Vaughn, Jordan Simmons (Jake), Jacob Sheehy, Kaitlyn Reynolds (Joey), Abby Sheehy and Savannah McCurdy; and his great grandchildren, Noah Simmons and Maebry Simmons.
For his efforts, he received multiple recognitions and awards, including being honored with the Karl F. Heiser Award by the APA, the Norma P. Simon Award and Asher R. Pacht Distinguished Service Award by ASPPB for his advocacy and extraordinary contributions to psychology, and received the distinction of being certified by the American Board of Psychological Professionals.
