He is survived by: his daughters, Tyna Gates (Bryan) and Patsy Dejournett (Chris); his wife Leisa Ann Atkinson; his sister Teresa McClanahan; his grandchildren, Brian (Nikkie), Christopher, Samantha, Jakan Blaine and Jazlyn Claire; his great grandchildren, Bayleigh, Addisyn, Mason and Nicklous; and his brother J. D. McClanahan. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
