He was predeceased by: his parents, Ernest Don and Pearl Iva Raymond; and his sister Marcella Joy Felts. He is survived by: his children, Tina and Gene; his son-in-law Juan; and his grandchildren, Madison and Juan Pablo. He is also survived by cousins and friends.

“My forever friend for almost 60 years, we loved talking about music or a special song,loved watching him play drums years ago. Whatever subject we were talking about would remind us of a song. He was there for me when my sister passed away, like a rock, so very special. I was honored to be his prom date back in 1966, even though I went to Capitol Hill and he went to Grant, I wasn't interested in any of the boys at my school.I will always love him and miss him. “A good friend for over 60 years. I can see him pounding those drums and what a sight it was in 66 seeing him drive a VW bug full of drums going to another gig. One of the best afro hair styles ever. Been visiting him at his rehab about 3 years has been good times and being able to help him was a blessing. I found his last two cars and how he loved that little red 2003 Alero. About 6'5" in a car for a little ol' lady was a sight. Bless his memory. Rev. Beckes, friends forever 'Spud'. Praise God”
