He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Terry (McLain) and Janet Lee McLain (Williams); and his brother Charles "Chuck" McLain. He is survived by: his wife Karen Elizabeth Sledge; his children, Stuart Forbes McLain (Emily), Laura Elizabeth McLain (Holmes Paschall) and Mary Louise McLain Blake (Stephen); his grandchildren, Caroline Elizabeth McLain, Jack Forbes McLain, Frederick Robert "Freddy" Blake and Amelia Louise Blake; his brothers, Thomas McLain (Janet), Michael McLain and Scott McLain (Janet); and his brother-in-law Bradford Sledge (Melinda). He is also survived by twelve nieces and nephews; and many close cousins.
