Robert Jerry Mitchell Obituary
Robert Jerry Mitchell, longtime Okmulgee resident, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Jack C. Montgomery VA Medical Center in Muskogee. He was 93 years of age. Robert was born August 30, 1927 in Udall, Missouri to Richard and Maggie (Graves) Mitchell. He served in the United States Airforce during World War II. He later became a dairy farmer, was a substitute rural mail carrier and a contract plumber.
Robert was a Life Member of V.F.W. Post 1189 in Okmulgee where he served as Post Commander. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Orville Mitchell and a son, Larry Wayne Mitchell. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Barbara (Castleman) Mitchell, a brother, Junior Mitchell, children, Linda Fricke and husband Mike, Dennis Mitchell, Susan Warden and husband Roger and Robert Mitchell and wife Muriel, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Friends may visit the funeral home on Thursday, February 25, 2021 from 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. at the Morris Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the McClendon-Winters Funeral Home of Okmulgee.
