He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Galt Lyon and Paul Benjamin Lyon; his wife Martha Ann Lyon; his brother Larry Lyon; and his brother-in-law Robert L. Hert, Jr..

He is survived by: his son Donnie Lyon (Jennifer); his grandchildren, Meagan Lyon and Drew Lyon; his brother Phil Lyon (Judee Lyon); his sisters-in-law, Mary Lee Hert-Draper and Joan Hert; and his pet Lucky. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, October 22nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Strode Funeral Home (610 S Duncan St, Stillwater, OK 74074). A graveside service will be held on Sunday, October 25th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Knipe Cemetery (502 W Knipe Ave, Perkins, OK 74059).

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the hourly employees of Legacy Village of Stillwater.
