With sadness, we share the passing of Florence Thornton of Sand Springs, Oklahoma. Florence, born on July 11, 1933, passed away on September 1, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Otto Eachus and Florence Eachus (Wolfe); her spouse Johnnie Thornton; her son Dennis White; her siblings, Otto "Bud" Eachus, John Reed "J. R." Eachus and Annabelle LaFleur; her grandson Lucien Mellott; and her great grandchild J. T. Medina.
She is survived by: her children, Sharon McKee (Michael) of Oronoco, MN and Joe Mellott (Michelle) of Grandview, MO; her stepchildren, Sheryl Bass (Jimmy) of Chase, KS, Darren Thornton of Paola and Steven Thornton (Sandy) of Russell, KS; her sister-in-law Harriet Ward of Chase, KS; her grandchildren, Jerry (Alyssa), Dani (Darrel), Robert (KatieAnn), Nicci (John), Seth (Elly), Jay (Beasan), Andy (Dara), Crystal, Barbara, Hannah (Clayton), Jake and Brandon; and her nieces, Kay Thompson of Wichita, KS and Debbie Oberlie of Chase, KS.. She is also survived by twenty-three great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be given to the Chase Senior Center in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
