He is survived by: his mother JoAnn Lea Hardiman Harris of Pendleton; his wife Lynn; his children, Alex Harris (Kayla) of Edmond, Jackie Harris of Skiatook and Zach Harris of Skiatook; his grandchildren, Maddox and Baby Ray; his brother Cal Harris (Midge) of Hermiston; his stepmother Priscilla Harris of Baker, Oregon; his parents-in-law, Jon and Shirley Day of Collinsville, Oklahoma.; his sisters, Jeanie (Gary Phillips), Sheryl (Richie Briggs) and Debi Day; and his son Liam of Owasso. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

The family requests memorial contributions be made in Mel's memory to the Skiatook American Legion Post #131, 723 West Rogers Boulevard, Skiatook, Oklahoma 74070.
