He was predeceased by: his sister Shirley Emerson Baird. He is survived by: his children, Patricia Pettingill Porter (Ronnie) of Stigler, OK and Arthur L. Emerson, Jr. (Glynda); his stepchildren, Orville Polland (Ellie) of Oxford, ME, Jimmy (Anitha) of Sweden and Janette Plummer (Greylin) of Raymond, ME.; his grandchildren, Danny Pettingill (Hayley), Jill Pettingill, Frederick Pettingill (Traci), Cathrine Brown, Tammy Rogers, Jessica Emerson, Zukhra Supi and Sara Emerson; his great grandchildren, Danielle Pettingill, Dylan Jones, Zoe Jones, Alesia Pettingill, Austin Pettingill, Nora Pettingill, Bella Hanks, Lane Hanks, Carmynn Brown, Makayla Brown, Emme Rogers, Hayden Nguyen and Cyranne Emerson; and his great great grandchildren, Benson Pettingill, Aspyn Pettingill and Ryder Pettingill.

A memorial service was held on Saturday, August 16th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Pigeon Hill Cemetery.
