He was predeceased by: his parents, Cruz Joseph Esparza and Celestine Esparza (Dearborne); his former spouse Nonie; and his siblings, Edward Esparza, Doris Bastion and Bernita Baker.

He is survived by: his great grandchild Lillian Gaddy; his wife Annette Jones-Esparza; his stepchildren, Jennifer Jones and Daniel Jones; his grandchildren, Rachel (Tim), Lauren Jones, Haley Jones, Jeffrey Wood, Levi Wood and Lacey (Richard); his great grandchildren, Jordan Gaddy, Logan Gaddy, Dylan Gaddy, Cameron Boatright, Raelynn Boatright and Matthew Wood; and his siblings, Madonna Schafers, Matilda Schafers, Celestine Johnson, Carmen Ellison, Dolores Conway, John Esparza, Margaret Medlin and Thomas Esparza. He is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren, godsons, and goddaughters, and many wonderful friends.
