He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel T. Burckhalter and Kate Burckhalter; and his siblings, Hoyt and Natha Louise. He is survived by: his wife Mary Huerta Burckhalter; his children, Cheryl Watson of Healdton, Natha Fatheree of Perryton and Johnny Max Burckhalter (Angela) of Healdton, Oklahoma; his stepson James Sharpton II (Donna Sharpton); and his grandchildren, Amie Watson Moura, Mandy Morgan, Cindie Watson, Brad Burckhalter, Sierra Burckhalter and Cameron Burckhalter. He is also survived by great - grandchildren.
