It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elta Winona Hughes Sherrod of Stratford, Oklahoma, who passed away on December 16, 2025, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Thomas Shaw and Irene Shaw; her husbands, Walter Brooks Hughes and Jess Sherrod; and her siblings, Carlton Shaw, Elton Shaw, Kenneth Shaw and Darlene Gross.
She is survived by: her sons, Mike Hughes (Peggy) of Oklahoma City, Joe Pat Hughes (Connie) of Dickson, Oklahoma and Jeff Hughes of Norman, Oklahoma; her siblings, Lynda Willsey and H. W. "Dub" Shaw; her grandchildren, Chase Hughes (Somer), Brian Hughes, Meredith Rogers (Michael), Jerren Almon and Kelby Hughes; her daughters, Baylie Ingram (Nathan Ingram) and Kyra; her granddaughter Lily; and her sons, Nathan, Jared Hughes, Bentley, Jackson, Macallan, Eddi Hughes, Brooks Hughes and Lucas (Kelsi Hughes).
