He was predeceased by: his parents, Kathlyn Elizabeth Niemi (Korten) and Edward Touri Niemi; and his brother Scott Niemi. He is survived by: his wife Judge Theresa Dreiling; his children, Meredith Susan Niemi of Tulsa and Julie Abell Niemi of Brooklyn; and his siblings, Madalene Lanphere and Stuart Niemi. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Church in Bruce's memory.
