It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Donald Norman Thornton (Tulsa, Oklahoma), born in Greensboro, North Carolina, who passed away on July 9, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Annie Lee and Joseph Russell Thornton; his wife Barbara Suiter Merritt of Hickory, NC; his daughters, Cathy Atchley (Larry), Laura Bloomfield (Tom) and Sandi Litzinger (David); his grandchildren, Matt, Ryan, Tim (Alyssa), Jack (Kristen), Michael, Andy, Sam and Amy (Adam); his great grandchildren, Arlo and Boone; and his brother Michael (Cathy).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's memory to the Better Together building campaign at Asbury United Methodist Church or a charity of your choice.
