He is survived by: his friends, Wayne and Joyce Smalley; his wife Louella Hefley (Greenhaw); his children, Karen Schemet (Mark Schemet), Michael D. Hefley (Lori) and Patti Murphy Frazier (Richard Frazier); his grandchildren, Michael Dean Jr. (Lindsey Hefley), Heather Alexander (Justin Alexander), Tyler (Ashley Hefley) and Kaylyn Davis (Spencer Davis); his great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan, Noah, Elijah Hefley, Josiah, Adelyn Alexander and Hollis Davis; his sister Louise; and his brothers-in-law, Bruce Spradlin and Dale (Vicki Greenhaw). He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
