We are sad to announce that on February 21, 2019, at the age of 93, John A. Coates (Tulsa, Oklahoma) passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Arthur Coates and Grace Coates of Geary; and his sister Mildred Renfro Owings. He is survived by: his wife Mary Emma Dailey Coates; his children, John Arthur Coates, Christopher Thomas Coates, Patrick Edward Coates (Margaret), Stephen Michael Coates and Anne Elizabeth Coates Hall (Richard); and his grandchildren, Chase Austin Coates (Sarah), Benjamin John Coates, John Hayden Coates "Jack" and Penelope Anne Coates "Nelle".

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to one of the following: Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, 825 NE 13th Street, OKC, OK 73104; The University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
