“Jon was an amazing friend. He would pursue each of us to encourage us on for the cause of Christ. He was always looking for ways to share his faith. He was a real challenge on the tennis court! I came to know Jon as he volunteered at Mend Medical Clinic. He wanted to start an outreach to men on how to be good fathers and husbands. Volunteers would come and go, but Jon was firm in his commitment to reach men for Christ.”

“John Shannon came to work for me at Bethel Body Shop in 1981, and from the first day he became my friend. Our bond grew deep because he loved the Lord, and through the years—working together, retiring, and even working out at the gym—our friendship only strengthened. John was a wonderful Christian man, steady and faithful. Even while battling cancer for years, he never complained and continued serving others as a counselor. I will always cherish him as a true and personal friend.”

“I’m sorry to learn about Jonny’s passing. Jon and I were cousins but lost track after our youth. Jon was in Jacksonville and I was in North Carolina. We spent a week or 2 together most summers as my Aunt Jeannie and my mom were sisters. I always looked forward to the family and Jonny visiting and my family spending time with his family in Jacksonville. Please know that Jonny and family are in my thoughts and prayers. Bill Bowman”
