He was predeceased by: his parents, Clifford Hughes and Nellie Hughes; his son Jeffery Hughes; and his aunt Blanch. He is survived by: his children, Brian Hughes of Nebraska and Samantha Hughes of Texas; his brother Ronald Hughes (Sherry) of Nebraska; his grandchildren, Michelle Hicks, Kyle Bookout, Kieara Stallings, Logan Baucom, Braidyn and Aaron Dunham; and his great great grandchildren, Zyaire and Slayton of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is also survived by many other relatives and friends.

A memorial service was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 at 2:30 PM at the Fort Gibson National Cemetery.
