Michael leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Michael’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around him. Though he is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support he offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Michael will carry forward his memory in their hearts.
He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parent Greek; his wife Katherine Johnson; and his children, Alicia and Mark (Judy).
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Community Center. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Metropolis Cathedral (4610 E Alameda Ave, Denver, CO 80246). A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 1st 2026 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Fairmount Cemetery - Denver (430 S Quebec St, Denver, CO 80247).
In 2009, for his contributions to the Parshall discovery, he received the Explorer of the Year Award from The American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
